Using Adobe Sign to digitally sign a document

On Mobile

Please note that the below instructions and screenshots are specific to an iPhone, but it should be very similar on other devices.

Step 1

You will receive an email similar to the below – this shows that we have sent a document to you that requires an electronic signature. The email will be sent from adobesign@adobesign.com.

To make a start, click the “Review and sign” button as highlighted below:

Adobe sign mobile step 1

You will now get a choice of browsers to open the link with. This is down to your personal preference so you can choose your favourite browser. Personally, I always choose the default browser (bottom option) as that uses Safari.

Step 2

Once you click the button, a new window will open and will look like the below. This has now loaded the document.

You will most likely see a message at the bottom of the screen asking about enabling cookies on your browser. The easiest option here is to select “Enable all” like below, but if you are concerned about privacy and data then you can select “Customise” and select your preferences.

Adobe sign mobile step 3a

Following this, you will see a green box confirming your preferences have been saved, and then you will be asked to accept the Adobe terms of use. There is nothing to worry about here and we conduct thorough due dilligence on all software we use.

You can click the white x to close the cookie settings and then “Continue” to agree to the Adobe terms of use.

You can now use your finger to scroll through the document. Ensure you read the document and fully understand the content. If you have any questions, please get in touch before continuing.

If you wish to be taken to the first point that requires your attention, click “Start” in the top right corner as highlighted below.

Step 4

When you have either scrolled to a point that requires your attention, or you clicked the start button from the previous step, you will notice the blue box like below that asks you to “Sign here”.

Tap inside this box to continue.

Step 5

You now have the option of how to add your signature. By default, the options at the top will have ‘Draw’ selected.

Please note that your electronic signature does not need to match your real-life signature, so the simplest option for you to choose is to type your name.

Adobe sign mobile step 6a

If you prefer, you can select the “Type” tab at the top and simply type in your name like I have done below.

Click “Apply” and your signature will be added to the document.

If that was the only signature required by you, the blue button in the top right corner will show “Finish”, and you can skip forward to step 7.

If you have more signatures to give, the blue button in the top right corner should now show an arrow like the below. Click this to proceed to the next place that requires attention.

Once you are taken to that place, you can tap in the highlighted box and your signature should appear without you needing to add it in again.

Now it should be filled in as below.

Step 7

If you are required to sign or initial more fields, the blue arrow will appear again as in step 6 and you can repeat the process.

You will know when you have finished signing because the blue box in the top right will read “Finish”.

This is NOT the final step – tap “Finish” and move on to step 8.

Step 3

You can now scroll through the document and read everything to ensure you are happy. Do this by clicking and dragging the scroll bar on the right hand side as highlighted in red below.

This document is an example application form for a Praemium plan. Your document may look very similar to this.

Ensure you read the document and fully understand the content. If you have any questions, please get in touch before continuing.

If you wish to be taken to the first point that requires your attention, click “Start” in the bottom left corner as highlighted below.

Step 5

A small window will appear looking like the below.

You now have the option of how to add your signature.

Please note that your electronic signature does not need to match your real-life signature, so the simplest option for you to choose is to type your name as I have done below. I have highlighted this in red for you to see.

If you prefer, you can select the ‘Draw’ tab at the top and try to draw your signature using your mouse or touchscreen. Similarly, if you have an image of your signature, you could select the image tab and choose that image to use instead.

Click “Apply” and your signature will be added to the document.

Step 6

The arrow on the left side that previously read “Start”, should now have changed to “Next”.

As before, you can either click this to skip to the next part of the document that needs signing, or you can continue scrolling through the document until you naturally find that point.

Adobe Sign - Step 5

Step 7

Once you reach that point, click in the box to sign again and your same signature from step 4 should automatically be entered into the document.

You should not need to repeat step 4 where you typed your name or drew your signature. If it asks you to do this, that is not a problem and continue as in step 4.

Adobe Sign - Step 6

Step 8

If you are required to sign or initial more fields, the “Next” arrow will appear again as in step 5 and you can repeat the process.

You will know when you have finished signing because a black box will appear at the bottom of the screen and on the far-right side display a blue button that reads “Click to Sign”.

That is all, you have successfully digitally signed the document!

You will see a message similar to the below, and you will be emailed a copy of the signed document for your records.

We will then also receive an email with the signed document and can proceed with the next steps.
